A Trip to Remember (Pune)

I thought that I will write in a lot of detail about everything that I did and everything that I saw. But I realize now (after writing more than a couple of pages) that it is hard to describe in detail what and how I felt after this trip. It is hard to describe the sheer joy of spending a lot of time walking in the rain, seeing new places, taking in the sights and sounds of a city that you don’t remember and had only heard of.

I WILL try to list out the places that I went to and what all I did out in Pune and hope to capture (superficially atleast) what this trip was like :)

5 awesome places to eat:

  1. Mar-Zo-Rin!: Try either the famous sandwiches or the burger (actually almost everything except the Pizza - as per a very trusted source) along with Hot chocolate on a rainy day is like heaven on a breakfast table!
  2. Hotel Aryan: Some interesting dishes on the menu including chinese bhel, idly manchurian and a few others. Try the Mastani -a tall glass of Dessert which is made from flavoured milk and has ice-cream, dry fruits, apple slices, wafers and god knows what else in it. Guaranteed wooziness while you walk after this (or maybe I am just weak :))
  3. Radhika: A small non-descript shop near E-Square where you get the yummiest Kheer kordom (A delicious bengali sweet that is a little hard and frizzy (?) on the outside and sweet and awesome on the inside!)  - We walked almost 7 kms just to eat this here :)
  4. Vaishali - Didn’t eat here but is supposed to be the best place in Pune for Dosa and anyplace that has Dosa gets a nod from me.
  5. Fat Kong’s: Absolutely amazing Chinese food! A don’t miss - on JM road near Panchali.

The most awesome thing about this trip though was just the time that was spent there. All the walking in the rain, the absolute freedom and carefree sensation
that I felt when I was there, the really cool feeling that people don’t bother too much with other’s lives.

But the absolute best thing about the trip was the joy I felt while I was there …  I have been told that this
is obvious from the spring in my step and the song in my heart now :)

DEDICATION to alpa-santoshi:

    Perspective A
    1. You spent all the money on Food
    2. Hence you had to walk in rain (couldn’t afford Autos)

    Perspective B
Wow ! - didnt knew you can get kheer kadam in Pune - I ate lots of them in Cal (KC Das), hard from outside juicy from inside
Did you buy any cookies/biscuits/cakes from Kayani Bakery ??
